New York Biology Teachers Association
2005
Otto Burgdorf
Student Science Research Competition

Winners

There were 165 papers from school districts representing Nassau, New York City, Westchester, and Suffolk counties that qualified for judging this year. Although it took a bit longer than anticipated, all papers were scored twice by judges from two different schools. This year, the 2005 Otto Burgdorf Award for Outstanding Research Award was given to Shara Yurkiewicz from Lawrence High School who received a perfect score of 100.

First place winners were awarded in categories where students received combined scores of at least 90 points. In addition, highest honors, high honors, and honors were also awarded in each category. Overall and first place winners will receive plaques in honor of their outstanding work. Certificates will be awarded to all other winners. All participants will receive judging sheets indicating their sub-category scores, overall scores, and, in some cases, comments written by their judges. Please note that a few scores were e-mailed or called in via telephone, so those judging sheets are not available to participating students. Plaques, certificates, and awards will be sent to participants' schools within the next few weeks.

Congratulations to all participants - you are all winners!
